When you want to say получить you should use the words get or receive.

The main difference between 'to get' and 'to receive' is in the language register. 'To get' is colloquial and also highly polysemantic. 'To receive' is a literary word that is used as a transitive verb with various objects following it. So, you can say:
- receive emails, documents, letters, etc.
- receive applause, comments, information,
- receive visitors, guests, dimplomats, etc.
- receive access to, concessions, etc.
