| Paolo Veronese was one of the greatest and outstanding painter of the second part of the sixteenth century. He had to appear in a court of inquisition like many other painters or scientists in those times because of his painting "The Feast in the House of Levi" as he depicted a lot of warriors, court jesters, courtesans and other groups of people around apostles. Neverthless, the magnificence and cheerfulness of the picture delighted everyone so the court didn't pass a sentence upon him.
Paolo Cagliari was born in Verona (that's where his pen name comes from) in 1528. He moved to Venice in a while where he became a great painter. There's no more fantastic painting in the world than his "Apotheosis of Venice" in which you can see Venice in the image of beautiful and stunning maid sitting on the cloud while crowds of people are looking at her in amazement.
Veronese played a very important role in the world art. He was the first one to depict a man's body in the most proper, exact and genuine sizes. Moreover, countless wall paintings in baroque and rococo in French, Russian and German palaces took the beginning in Veronese's creation work.
There're a lot of other paintings that are situated in the most famous museums now: "The Rape of Europa", "Mystical Marriage of St Catherine", "Battle of Lepanto", "The Marriage at Cana" and many more.
Paolo Veronese died in 1588 but his paintings are still striking and impressive!
