| What does the concept of the Renaissance mean? Why did it occur back in the Middle Ages? What are the main features of the Renaissance? What names come to your mind when you talk about the Renaissance? What are the main accomplishments of the Renaissance thought?

| The ancient Art sang a song to the Man, representing the victorious, wise and beautiful Mankind. The medieval Art revealed the Man of dissatisfaction and hunger for unattainable justice. But the image of a resolute, intelligent Man, the master of his own fate, the creator of himself was shaped only by the Renaissance.
This was an epoch of rapid artistic boost which was free from church scholastic hypnotism and willing to cognize and interpret the world as it was. This was an epoch of great discoveries, an epoch that showed the necessity in titans and that generated the titans of remarkable thought, passion and character, of versatility and erudition.
Art began to champion new ideals; human body became the main object of painters’ attention. “The hips of Titian Venus”, said H. Heine, “posed no smaller danger for the Pope than the Theses nailed by Luther on the gate of Vürtemberg church.”
The Renaissance marks the period of European history at the close of the Middle Ages and the rise of the Modern world. It represents a cultural rebirth that itself was born in Italy and bridged the art period between the Middle Ages and the High Renaissance in Italy. It is generally known that the Renaissance matured in Northern Europe later, in 16th century.
The term renaissance is used to mark an era of broad cultural achievement as a result of renewed interest in the classical art and ideas of Ancient Greece and Rome. The main idea of rebirth lies at the belief that through the study of the intellectual and artistic treasures of the Greco-Roman antiquity the artistic greatness, wisdom and enlightenment can be reached.
Classical artistic principles, including harmonious proportion, realistic expression, and rational postures were emulated.

| The ancient art shows a human being as a representative of the sensible and beautiful generation. The Medieval age shows the unsatisfied man who is eager for unattainable justice. But only Renaissance represents a human being as a strong-willed and educated man who is in fact the creator of his own fate. The age of Renaissance was a period of an overwhelming cognition of the world. This epoch needed the titans of thought and knowledge, passion and character, and it gave birth to them. The art became the guide in the world of new ideals. And the human body becomes the main object of artists’ attention. The age of Renaissance was the moment when human being’s natural beauty got its highest point in art. The artists showed people created after the image and likeness of God, but possessing natural passion. Homo sapiens were shown as the ideal mixture of physical beauty and spiritual glory. The Renaissance epoch was rich in thinkers, artists and scientists and all of them have the same aim – the exploration of the ideality of the human being and how to improve it.

| The Ancient art sang a song to the victorious and wise man. Medieval art revealed a dissatisfied person, yearned for inaccessible justice. But only the Renaissance created a strong-willed and intelligent person, a creator of his own fate. It was an epoch of booming creative rise, having freed itself from the overwhelming domination of the church, craved for cognition and comprehension of the World. It was an epoch of great discoveries. The Renaissance needed giants and gave birth to giants of thought, passion, and of a strong character. Art became the guide in the world of new ideals, a human body – the main focus of painter. According to Heine “The hips of Titian Venus” posed no smaller hazard to The Pope, than Luther’s The Theses on the gate of Vürtemberg church.

| A man as a representative of all sensitive, victorious and beautiful was always interested in art. An ancient art discovered thirsting for unattainable justice men but the image of intellectual man, the master of his own faith was created with the help of Renaissance. The Renaissance dates from somewhere in the 14th century to somewhere in the 17th century. It included different people from different countries and with different languages It was an epoch of the flourishing of art, great discoveries and scientific investigations. It was an epoch which gave birth to Titans of thoughts. It was the ability of an individual to think on his own. Art became the main source of new ideals. The characteristics of Renaissance were humanism, nationalism, a new spirit in art, architecture, literature and learning. The human body became the main subject of painters who created works of genius. The rise of the rational spirit and of scientific investigation gave rise to a new approach to life. And still it was an epoch of giants, who gave rise to many achievements of our lasting heritage of genius and discovery.

| Sensible, beautiful and victorious man was in the focus of ancient art. While Medieval painters depicted an unsatisfied man who was looking for inaccessible justice, the Renaissance created the image of a strong-willed, intellectual man, the master of his own fate. It was a period of flourishing of art that freed people from the overwhelming domination of the church, that gave man a chance to cognize the world and his real self. It is an epoch of investigation and discovery, that needed Titans of thought and actually gave birth to them. These were passionate and many-sided personalities, scientists, politicians, philosophers and artists. In this period art becomes the main creator of new ideals and human body gains artists' attention becoming the main leitmotif of their works. The Renaissance can be characterized as a rebirth of antique traditions in art and philosophy. That presupposes the domination of man who was viewed as the lord of creation. After the Medieval period, when spiritual aspect was in the focus, the Renaissance turns people's attention to physical component, making human body the object of admiration and worship.

| The ideology of Renaissance was aimed at the extolment of the people’s beauty. The titans of this epoch glorify highly-educated, creative and ideal humanity. According to the philosophy of Renaissance a man does not have any physical or emotional imperfections. On the contrary, Julian Huxley points that people have dark, negative sides as well. His view on the humanity is more objective. Huxley insists that people posses an excellent beauty, but can be disgustingly ugly. Homo sapiens being the superlative of intellect in the whole living world can act as real morons. We are born innocent and then start to spoil our life with sins. As far as I understand the main point of the Renaissance philosophy was the idealistic attitude to the race of people, while Huxley stands for more pragmatic position. I think that the philosophy of Renaissance is to show the body of a human being as the most beautiful thing. And this motivates people to ecome better even if they are sinful and ugly (no matter mentally or physically).

| The epoch of Renaissance thoroughly investigated Man as the pivot of everything existing on Earth. The guiding principle for the philosophers and artists of the Renaissance was to mark the absence of limits that are able to restrict the human power of thought and will. The art of the epoch revealed the omnipotence of God as the creator of the most perfect of his children – Man with his desires, passions, and sufferings. Human feelings and behaviour were under scrupulous discussion which proclaimed the beauty of body and subtlety of soul.

| The Renaissance is an epoch of rebirth. The art of this period is aimed at human beings. People in fact are complex phenomena. One of the key points in the philosophy of Renaissance is the immortality of the soul. The titans of that epoch were convinced that our soul is everlasting. And its immortality is in Faith. Renaissance is the mixture of our body and soul. And this divine fusion exalts human beings. We are created after the image and likeness of God, but posses our own freedom of actions and realistic, natural, not-divine beauty. One’s actions are influenced by God, but at the same time people have a right for their own reason and will. As for me Renaissance is one of the greatest periods in the history of art and society. It was a marvelous fusion of nature and God in people. Their divine beauty is actualized in the corporeal world. The man of the Renaissance is an ideal composition of inner and outer fairness. He is ready to act, to create, to think. And he acts for the sake of God who has created him and gave him a great variety of opportunities limited only by the surface of the Earth and the period of time that is people’s life.

| HUMANISTSIC THOUGHT OF THE RENAISSANCE
The term humanism comes from the Latin word “humanitas” that was introduced by Cicerone. He thought that humanitas is education and upbringing of man that stipulates his elevation. The father of humanism is deemed to be Francheska Petrarch, a poet and philosopher of the 14th century. He thought that in order to achieve the prosperity of art, literature and science, people shouldn’t look at their ancestors, but rather elicit the best from the antic culture and reconsider it and excel it. Petrarch laid a foundation of personal self-consciousness of the Renaissance. The man of the Renaissance denies universal medieval concepts and appeals to something concrete and individual. The value of human personality is defined by personal merits and fruitfulness of his actions. Lorenzo Vallo was one of those who praised individualism. The main feature of man is striving for pleasure, as he thinks. A measure of morality is personal benefit. Anoter representative of the renaissance is Giovanni Piko della Mirandola who puts man in the center of the universe. He claimed that God gave men a chance to create themselves rather than he created them in his own image and likeness. The major point of humanistic anthropocentrism is an opinion of Piko that man’s dignity is in his freedom. Man can become anybody who wishes to become. But what is more important is that is his speculations, Piko expressed a tendency of man’s apotheosis. But it doesn’t mean that people didn’t believe in God. On the contrary, they were real believers. But they put man at the foreground and God was at the background, unlike it had been before, when God prevailed upon man. We should mention that humanists were rarely pursued by the Catholic Church until the 16th century. But the advocates of new culture were not afraid of Holy Inquisition and had a reputation of good Christians. It was the Reformation that forced the Church to take the offensive. [c]

| Humanistic Thought of the Renaissance
The term “humanism” originates from Latin “humanitas” that means “humanity” or “humanness”. It was used by Cicero even in the first century B.C. For him “humanitas” meant education that contributed to man's spiritual rise. Such disciplines as grammar, rhetoric, ethics, history and poetry were aimed at perfection of human nature. They turned out to be fundamental theories of the Renaissance and were called “studia humanitatis”. Francesco Petrarch is regarded to be the founder of humanism. His works gave birth to a number of ideas that then became leading theories of the Renaissance culture in Italy. In one of his treaties he rejects Medieval domination of the church, comparing scholastic thinking to ignorance. His treaties also gave birth to reconsideration of antique heritage. According to Petrarch, the very desire to reach the high of antique culture can bring new flourishing of literature, art and science. This statement became one of the fundamental theories of the Renaissance. Petrarch supposed that philosophy should focus on man, his life, emotions, desires. The Renaissance created an image of man who frees from scholastic theories and Medieval dogmata, whose ideals are individualism and intelligence, investigation and cognition. Theocentrism was successfully substituted by anthropocentrism. The culmination of anthropocentrism manifested itself in the idea of individual freedom as the realization of human dignity.

| Humanism means upbringing and education of a person aimed at his exaltation. The main role in the process of improvement of people’s spiritual nature is a complex of subjects that are grammar, oratory, poetry, history and ethics. The founder of the philosophy of the Renaissance is Francesca Petrarch. He was convinced that only people’s desire to achieve the top of the ancient culture and its rethinking can lead to a new blossom of literature, art and science. The people of the Renaissance leave medieval universals and come to individualism. They develop a new vision of a human being based on the concept of action. And the value of every person is now in his or her personal merits. According to Leon Battista Alberta everybody can fight his destiny only through acting. One more idea of the Renaissance was expressed by Lorenzo Valla. He said that one of the main characteristic features of a human being is his eagerness to delight. Giovanni Pico Merandolla places a person in the central of the world. To his mind, God has created us and given us the right to develop ourselves. Pico also thought that the main merit of the human being is his freedom. So the philosophy of the Renaissance doesn’t reject God and his Will dogmas in the process of personal development, but is absolutely against church with its. The corner stone is that God has given man the right to choose, but the church popularizing the Kingdom of God on the Earth forget about this and are eager to limit us in our desires, thoughts and actions.

| The Renaisance is a kind of consciousness. It is as renewal, revival and rebirth. The main characteristics of Renaissance were humanism, nationalism, a new approach to life, and a new spirit in art, architecture, literature, learning and scientific investigation. The first theme here is the immortality of the soul. Man is immortal in his belief in God. The second theme is reason and will. The dominant question is whether man acts from rational decisions for which the will serves as a kind of motive power. The next is Human freedom and divine omniscience. And the main question here is If God is omniscient – that is, knows everything that happens – and in some sense causes everything to happen, then how is man free to choose what he does or be responsible for his actions? The next theme is Body and soul. Plato believed that body and soul, like will and reason are in fundamental conflict; that the body is the prison of the soul and that the goal of human life is the soul’s escape.

| The renaissance is a period of a particular development of art. It gave birth to new techniques and structures of paintings. Moreover the most important themes here are The immortality of the soul, where a man is immortal in his belief in God. Reason and will.
