| Hi, everyone. I want you to discuss the novel "A Farewell to Arms" here. The best way is by asking provocative questions and looking into minor details. I want you to argue with the author and the characters. This will help you look at a literary work as a reflection of life through the eyes of a writer. Provoke each other and yourselves.

| Guys, do you believe that it is love that helps Frederic Henry to cope with all the difficulties during the retreat?

| Maybe. But in the end his love dies showing that there is nothing good in this world. There is no pure love, and if there is, it cannot exist.

| Firstly, Frederic says farewell to arms, to war. But then he has to say his farewell to Catherine... So can love be a religion?

| The life deliberately points that it can't. But at last it's up to us to decide. Hemingway just shows how he sees it.

| I think love can be a religion. But I don't mean loving one particular person. I'm talking about universal love like in our Orthodox Church.

| Quote (Seagull) I think love can be a religion. You're quite right, I think. But as to the novel, I'm not sure that the topic of love as religion prevails. To my mind, the characters' behavior and thoughts are not to be seen only from this perspective.

| In case of this novel and the main characters I should say, not love itself, but being together was their goal. Because both of them wanted to have a peaceful life.
