Some learners make a strnage mistake based on lexacal tautology and abundancy.
'You know, for some people it's the only one thing that gives them certainty and strength.'
As you see, '...the only one thing...'is a mistake. It should be '...the only thing...'
The phrase '...the only one....'is possible whene there is no noun after it, becasue 'one' substituted the contextual noun.
