Yeah, their music plunges us into their special atmosphere.
I'm crazy about Nightwish. But I think that their old composition with ex-vocalist Tarja Turunen is better then their present one.

| I've listened to some songs of The Hives only. Though it's not the kind of music I prefer, I'm ready to admit they are really talented and creative. And I do like their black and white style!

I think she was a symbol of Nightwish in some sense.
as for pop-music, I hate it because of modern "singers". In the past there were worthy and real singers. But now...the emphasis is not on quality but on entertainment. Sometimes their songs completely miss any sense.
as for Japanese music, I adore it!  Especially different openings to anime)

Does anybody here know "Vitamin String Quartet"? They produce a lot of covers for different popular singers\bands. Lady Gaga, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Muse, Nirvana and so on.

Oh, yeah. I know them. And they make really good covers I like that they make well-known songs in their own style.
As for " Vitamin String Quartet"... They have 4 members. As you can see from their name, there are 4 instruments in their band : 2 violins, a cello and a viola. So, they replay only instrumental part of the songs.
For example, they've made a cover for Lady Gaga's Bad Romance... And it's really awesome
If you like such instrumental music, I advise you to listen
