Check Your Marks Online!
In our country many
schools now have their own websites where parents can see all the marks of
their children. On the one hand, it is very convenient since there is even no
need to leave the house and distract a teacher with a question "Could you
please tell me all his/her marks?”. Moreover, now teachers will have a bit less
work – no exhausting checking of a huge heap of diaries. On the other hand,
poor kids! Now the erasing their "twos” and "threes” from the diaries won’t
help anymore. So good for parents, bad for kids.

I think that it is good for parents to control their children, but I know that it's always true. My parents don't not use this option. My friends tell me about, my friends' parents get marks on their phones, on SMS,but the are often not right. If the option is correct,it will be the best.

It's not an innovation at all, it's perfectly useless. If a teacher does not obey the rules set for every schoolworker, I mean - doing everything in time, he/she won't put the marks in the electronic diaries on timely basis anyway. It's a teacher's duty to come up with a way to keep track of pupils' results daily, filling in the class register any time he/she needs it. Teachers in my school are pretty good at not leaving the pages empty until the term is over. Another thing is that working on a computer is not faster, it's about doing the same things in a new format. It will take you just as much time to fill in the electronic diary as it takes you to write in the paper one (for some teachers even much more).
So the stuff they introduce is totally dependent on the teachers again. Since the teacher cannot manage his duties properly, there won't be any benefit from these innovations for pupils or their parents. In this case, at least.

Tend to agree with you. First of all, it's not less time-consuming - that's for sure. And another problem is laziness (unwillingness, lack of free time, call it whatever you want) of the teachers who fail to do their duties on time. In such a case there won't be any benefit. You're quite right.

Well, I think some things will be sent automatically (like the "page is updated" or something similar). I certainly do not speak now about "peronal" messages that a teacher wants to send to a concrete pupil.
As for having less work, I still think that it IS less work for teachers. First of all they do not need to write anything. Typing is always faster. And anyway it's better for pupils when their marks apear in a diary not in 2 weeks or in a month (in some schools it is really so) but a bit earlier when they still have an opportunity to "change" their mark-situation. I believe any innovations are made first of all for the sake of pupils.

You're speaking about "a bit less work" for teachers. Are you kidding? When such a system is introduced in a school, teachers have to keep an electronic record of students' marks and update it daily. And you can't do it just during the lesson because you need a computer. And, moreover, teachers have to write very many new documents.
Furthermore, electronic diaries presuppose that parents receive sms-messages daily. But what should a teacher do when he/she needs to write some note for the parents? Like, "doesn't behave himself" or "has come to lesson unprepared". Should a teacher send some SMS as well?

I can’t say that it will really take less time, but not more also. As for me as well as for many other teachers I put a mark in my personal notebook and only then in class journal. Nothing changes if I will put it in computer.
