Free Medicine!
How long have we dreamt about medicine "like they have it somewhere abroad”? Instead of it medical staff has low salaries, and we do not have normal health service at all. So what is it, free medicine? Having a health ensurance you’ll be able to visit any doctor in any hospital, but not just go to the policlinic somewhere near your house. Now it’s impossible to get any medical help, for example in Moscow if you got your policy somewhere in Kemerovo. But things happen and who knows, maybe one day being somewhere far from Ryazan you’ll need medical treatment, but according to the situation that we have now, you’ll get nothing. The law will come into the effect in January 2011. Though some politicians see a number of drawbacks in the law, and they say that there will probably be some amendments to it.

Well, the next step is special ID's for each region. And people from Ryazan region won't have an acsess to the Moscow region, etc. We are shouting about global problems of our country, but still continuing destroying it by creating such a stupid laws. On the other hand, doctors are also people, snd they also need money. They are not paid enough, so they do what they can to earn much money. The problem seems to be like bribe in the sphere of road police.

I actually find this situation idiotic because I just can't get it in my mind WHY a person who has already taken trouble to get medical insurance can't turn for help to ANY hospital. In my opinion the current policy is directly aimed at "weeding" of the population. I'm not sure anything radical will happen in the future. sad

Agree, I also always try to avoid hospitals. And I had the same problem some years ago while taking a holiday in Anapa.

When I feel bad I prefer to stay at home and use folk medicine or go to the nearest drugstore and buy pills recommended by acquaintances and friends.
I think, all of us know in what condition our National Health Service is. Asya's example may seem familiar to most Russians... help I don't believe we will see any positive changes soon.

Your article reminded me of the situation that took place 2 years ago (I suppose I've already told you about it). it happened when I was working in "Orlyonok". Actually they have their medical centre there, but it turned out that only children, not working staff could get help there. So, when one girl of our team got ill, nobody wanted to help her. She was running very high temperature (39-40 all the time), she had terrible abdominal pains and was losing consciousness from time to time. We called for an ambulance, they took her to the hospital. But she couldn't get help in hospital. They even didn't give her any medicine. They just said, "You are from Ryazan. Go home!" That shocked me! But that turned out to be a reality! Only money is the key to solving the problem, any problem!
free medicine? Isn't it free, according to our laws? It's the doctors' consciousness (or lack of it) that makes it paid.
