Every tourist knows what Gzhel is and why it is so famous. Gzhel is one of the branches of our ancient art culture that became popular in the 19th century and now it is popular in every country. There is a legend that Peter the Great stole this technique from Holland. But nowadays nobody can say for sure if it is right or not. In spite of this fact, Gzhel ceramics is still beautiful and decorates our houses and kitchens. There is no family that hasn't got plates of Gzhel ceramics or little decorative figurines. Not such a long time ago, a lot of people could attend a Gzhel festival where they could make something themselves or buy finished goods. The festival wasn't long, it worked just three days but had so many visitors.
Beautiful figures indeed!Wanna add that there is also Gus Khrustalny and Zhostovo town, which are also well-known for their art pieces.I'm sure you have some at home))
I have been to the town of Gzhel and have touched all of those ammazing art pieces. The town itself is nothing special, just a town. But eyes could not rest motionless - a little horse figure there, a wall-clock here, plates, chandalliers, cups, spoon-holds, folk art motifs, clothes, T-shirts.... This is really great....But there is always a fly in the ointment - it's a poor country
