Russians will soon be able to obtain Mexican visas free via the Internet. According to the Mexican ambassador in Moscow, his government is launching, from November 1, a new electronic system that will allow Russian applicants to obtain 180-day visas without even coming to the embassy. In 2009, Mexico already eased visa regulations for Russians, slashing the period of application consideration to two days from 40. Besides, Mexican authorities have since last year issued tourist visas to Russians for five or 10 years rather than for 3 months like before.
To my mind, the very fact that in some countries visa regulations have become simpler speaks about the global tendency to make the "boarders" between countries thinner and transparent. Probably we are stepping into the era of free traveling across the whole planet.
