Moscow hosts festival of social advertising.
Moscow hosts the 10th festival of social advertising. Traditionally, there are plenty of projects aimed to attract public attention to the most pressing social issues. The city authorities have decided to give up shocking advertising and focus more on promotion of healthy lifestyle because 2011 year will become the year of sport. And social advertising is a powerful means to change situation for the better. For example, the number of people who wanted to donate blood has increased almost by 40 times after a social advertisement appeared on TV.

Moreover in Moscow the most popular social advertisement became the ‘blue bucket’ campaign. This spring a group of activists in Moscow, all of them drivers, began a campaign against vehicles with blaring sirens used by government officials to get to their destinations faster than ordinary Muscovites. This movement became very popular all over Russia. It means that social advertising and such campaigns are very effective ways to express one`s protests or promote views.

Agree, but I don't think this habit may be eradicated. It concerns all spheres of life.

It's about sirens after all, I think. It's about this strange I-can-do-what-I-want Russian habit. Blaring sirens have been used by all sorts of people for all sorts of occasions. Key government officals, emergency serives, police, ambulance, fire engines - enough. The others must never be allowed to use such sirens.

Anti-smoking advertisement is constantly broadcast on our tv, but actually i don't know a man who has given up smoking after it.Besides, sport and movie stars say there that they are against smoking, but they do it in real life. It's not fair i think...

Yes of course social advertising also works in this sphere. For example some students from our country developed a social poster. In the center of the poster we can see a question: “Mother, why am I weak in the head?” and at the bottom is an explanation of it: “Retarded children are born because of alcohol.” The poster is designed in the colors of a famous alcohol cocktail in Russia. More over not so long ago an anti-smoking advertisement was released in Moscow, depicting a newborn child with a cigarette end on its back. The authors of the advertisement thought it was the best way to persuade people give up smoking.

And what about drinking vodka and beer. Does social advertising work in such a sphere?
