Poor hearing does not impede career.
The latest equipment helps the professional rehabilitation of physically challenged young people. The Moscow Bauman State Technical University is the first Russian university to train deaf and hearing-impaired students. The halls at the special faculty are equipped according to the latest word in technology. During the first three years, classes are held in small groups of 10 people to give each student an opportunity for personal contact with the teacher. The classrooms are equipped with special computers with training programmes and other modern facilities. Lectures take place in large rooms where it is next to impossible to hear the lecturer from the back seat. Here as well, modern technology helps: students hard of hearing are provided with ear-phones. The greatest advantage of studying at the special faculty is well-known. As the students themselves say, each of them is given the attention they need. At present, over 200 students attend the special faculty for the hearing-impaired. Both the teachers and the students are convinced that after graduation most of them will secure employment in their chosen profession.

I'm always surprised at the fact that physically challenged people are so eager to be educated. No matter how hard it is for them, they apply best efforts to study at a university. Whereas some healthy, strong people shirk their duty and take it for granted to be idle at work.
