Russia awarded 2018 FIFA World Cup

Russia has won the race to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup. There were 2 main favourites of this tender: England and Russia and nobody knew the results to the last minute, while both the competitors were reputable.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that he would go to Zurich to thank FIFA for awarding his country the right to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Putin called the decision "a sign of trust".
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov added: "You have trusted us with the World Cup, we will not disappoint you. Let's make history together."
As for me I think that it will be a great event in our country. I hope our team will also take part in it and I’ll get the tickets)

Actually, I don't care about that "great event". The only thing that comes to my mind is that the first thing we should rely on is that our team will do their best to win.

Well, I can understand their disappointment and everything you wrote is right. But anyway, the choice is made. So,the World Cup in our country should be organized wisely and carefully.

Yes, exactly. People have reasons for anxiety and discontent. Of course, it's important and even useful to discuss problem questions but it should be done without hatered and insult.

Tell the English about that)) They're absolutely sure that such a decision is extremely unfair and they even want to elicit Blatter's retirement. Well, it's easy to understand them, not without reason it's said that football is a kind of religion for them. Besides, it cannot be denied that Britain has everything requisite for the World Cup. No doubt, it's great disappointment for them.

Well, there ARE reasons for discontent, really. As I said earlier, the World Cup requires HUGE expenses. Where is the money for that? Of course, we have sponsors but still people are afraid that everything will be done at their expense... The point is that a lot of promises have been made and that certainly causes alarm. And one more thing. What will be left after the World Cup? Right, playing fields. A lot of playing fields. A lot of unnecessary playing fields...

Yes, most of these comments under the video are not favourable at all. But it's better not to take them very seriously. There are also many trolls and spammers in the net, you know.

We can be absolutely sure ony in one thing - the show. That's where our country scores. I don't have the slightest doubt that the organizers will do their best to impress everyone.

I'm not a great fan of sports but my mother is crazy about football and she is now happy like never before. She says: "The World Cup! In Russia! At last! I don't believe it! It will be a great step forward for Russian sport! Our counrty has been chosen! Oh my God! Yes, it's a great honour but also a great responsibility..." So she is excited and worried at the same time and as Lovefootball she wants our sport officials to do everything in time and in a proper way.

I had no idea that some sites would be overfilled with so much hatred towards Russia... English people keep saying that FIFA is corrupt)) They believe the next World Cup will be a disaster...

The team, the government, fans.... The World Cup presupposes huge expenses, radical changes in infrastructure and big responsibility. I do hope that we'll manage to cope with all that with dignity.
