Ryazan Puppet Theater: a Show without Puppets
Ryazan Puppet Theater presents a new play “Diogenes. Seeking for Man”. The opening night takes place today, on the 16th of March. This is the play for adults; more than that, there are no puppets in it. Having been waited for almost 10 years (during which the theater could please the audience only with performances for children), the play renders a philosophical interpretation of the story of Diogenes’ life, a famous ascetic. The stage manager, Valery Shadsky, deliberately juxtaposes two contrasting points of view: on one hand, the idea of doing only with necessities; on the other hand, the ideology of careerism and prosperity. The play is definitely worth seeing; no wonder, all the tickets for today and tomorrow are already bought; next time the play will be shown on the 30th of March.
I heard about that! The only question is - why without any puppets? It's at leats illogical, isn't it?) Anyway I have the most tender feelings towards this theatre but to tell the truth I've never watched a serious "adult" performance there. Well, maybe it's high time I did.
