Nowadays it's an experimental programme but such an innovation is planned to be introduced into all Russian schools (especially the big ones). Parents will be able to control the nutrition of their children at school. From now on pupils will pay for their meals with special plastic cards. No cash! So, parents will put some money on the plastic card that functions only in school canteens and all the money will be spent on normal food. So, parents will be sure that if their child is given money to buy dinner, he won't buy any coke, beer or chips on it. Moreover, when a child pays with the plastic card, the information about what, when and for how much he has bought is stored in the Internet, so that his parents can keep the nutrition of their child under strict control.
Canteens are the best room at school. Their you may eat. The main feature of canteens is that some weeks of the year classes must clean the canteen during their lessons.
I think it's rather comfortable for parents, but of course not for their children.I remember myself buying sometimes some chips and coke in the shop near my school instead of a good meal. But parents can also give pocket money for a child to buy something he/she likes. All in all this total control alerts a bit.Won't it be too much soon?
On the one hand, it's good because parents will know how their children spend money. But on the other hand, children can't save money for special occasions. Maybe they want to buy some presents for their moms, dads, boyfriends, or girlfriends. And they are afraid to tell their parents about it. So I am not quite sure that it's a good idea. Of course, parents will be all for it,but their children won't.
