To tell the truth, I'm usually very far from the political world. But this political news has shocked even me. Ukrainian ex-PM Yulia Tymoshenko has been sentenced to seven years of imprisonment for the abuse of her office. Tymoshenko claims that she is against the court decision. She says she is for the Ukrainians and for the prosperity of the country. Up to the last moment there were chances that she would avoid jail. However, the court has proven her guilty for stealing more than $150.000.000 Here you can find some additional information + news report. And just to remind you: Timoshenko was arrested on the 5th of August for allegedly exceeding her authority while signing gas deals with Russia in 2009.
It would be nice if they jailed more politicians even if it is just a kind of a show. Well but in this case the whole government will be one big jail. So I suppose there is even no need to discuss such problems.
We're not discussing any problem. That's not a problem. That's just a news item. But I consider it to be of certain importance because such news usually have consequences. And as far as the conflict was with Russia, we'll have to deal with them anyway.
I really do not care now I have learnt to understand that we will never have full information of what goes on in political circles. This again proves that this world is a terrifying ring of severe battles for power and money! Any one will be smashed and beated into earth if he or she dare stand agaisnt.
This case is just a vivid representation of the famous proverb: "beat your friends, so your enemies will be scared of you". It's a show (though for Mrs. Tymoshenko it's apparently not) for the whole nation and the political system. By the way, do not imagine Tymoshenko sitting with angry tears running down her cheeks, leaning unto the bars and waiting for her scanty meal of tasteless porridge... Politicians are exceptions, as Asya's said.
