I'm going to work at school. That's why this question bothers me a lot. Nowadays strange things are happening. And, to my mind, they are no good. The first "innovation" is to reduce the number of groups the class divides into for a lesson of a foreign language. This means that there will be 15 or even more pupils in one group, while earlier it could be 8. The second 'brilliant" idea is to reduce the number of schools. Officials are going to amalgamate schools that have less that 1000 pupils, like schools №6 and 8. The third thing is that they're going to reduce the number of people working at school. It's now unprofitable for schools to have moonlighters. This list may be continued but the idea is clear. Everything is reduced. Is our government going to "reduce" the quality of education? Or have they already done it?
I do not simply "think". I am SURE there will be further changes. I haven't written it here, but there'll also be an "innovation" that people will be able to work at school as teachers without getting this special, pedagogical higher education. And the system of points that all the teachers have to get to be paid their salaries... It's somewhere beyond my understanding!!! Why should teachers working with less brilliant students, for example, get fewer points and, therefore, less money? Isn't it more difficult to teach pupils with lower capabilities?!
I am very much irritated by the situation. In five years from now, we will see no positive changes or favourable improvements in the school system. The quality of education will never become better, salaries will never be raised. The message is very simple: 1) the state doesn't want to spend money on education, it will never increase expenses, the state doesn't need well-educated people; 2) if you need education, go and buy it - it's your own personal responsibility; the state will provide for a minimum standard - to be able to fill in a tax declaration at the end of the year and alike; 3) the state doesn't need qualified teachers who devote their life to the profession; if you need money, go and do business. I could say more, but the things I have said are enough to understand that this is no reform, this is just like closing down a business that gives no immedaite profits.
