Why do men die younger than women?
Are men dying younger than women because they don't look after themselves and are reluctant to visit the doctor - or could evolution be to blame? 22 per cent of men die before the age of 65 (compared to 13 per cent of women); and 42 per cent die before 75 (compared to 26 per cent of women). Tragically, 76 per cent of people who kill themselves are men; and men are 70 per cent are more likely to die from a cancer that affects both men and women. Even where good health predominates, a typical baby boy born in 2009 can expect to live to 77 - but a baby girl will outlive him by an average of five years. Evolution is the clue: ‘In biological terms, men older than 50 or 60 are no longer useful but women still have a role as grandmothers, helping to bring up and protect the young. It would take thousands and thousands of years for evolution to catch up with modern man’s changing lifestyle.’
Maybe this theory concerns all women? And it does not matter whether they have children or not... Well, it sounds a bit complicated so let's give scientists an opportinity to solve the mystery))
Yes, I have heard of this "biological theory". Actually I have also read somewhere that women usually live longer than men because the hormones that are "produced" during pregnancy have certain anti-age effect. But what about those women who don't have children? Even they live longer than men do.... Hm...
