“School practice” or all teachers are Supermen (by Rina)
“School practice” or all teachers are Supermen
(based on real events)
It was our second school practice and our second attempt to find out whether we are suitable for teaching at school or not. Speaking about our previous experience I can't but describe it as “totally successful” - kids were nice and intelligent, teachers – professional and the whole school atmosphere was quite motivating and encouraging.
This time it was a little bit different. We were supposed to teach German but it turned out that we had to do a lot of other things. The most difficult was staying sane. A classroom with students looked like a hive with crazy bees. They used their hyperactivity and enormous energy in every sphere of their live except studying. Actually, they were resisting studying as if it was the worst thing that can ever happen to them. We were supposed to teach German? Seriously? First of all we were supposed to teach students to keep silence for 40 minutes and to do what the teacher asks them to do. We were supposed to teach them not to throw their pens into each other and not to swear during the lesson. We were supposed to teach them that exercise books are not for eating but for writing in them. And at the same time we were supposed to teach them German, enlarge their knowledge concerning other countries and motivate them to study. And finally... we've succeeded.
To be a Superhero you don't have to be born on Krypton and you don't have to be bitten by a radioactive spider. You have to make your lessons interesting for your students. You have to draw their attention. You have to motivate them to participate in the discussion. You have to convince them that they need foreign languages. You have to make them believe that they can do it. You have to make them ask question. You have to make them find answers. You have to give them as much as possible. You have to make them accept it. You have to inspire them. You have to make them create. You have to be a good teacher. You have to be a teacher they can call “my favorite”. If you have managed to do it all, congratulations. You have just taken your part in saving this world. The world that is called “a school”.

Rina, could you please write something more?! It's such a pleasure for me to read your articles! They're NEVER boring or standardised. Stereotypes are not about you. That's for sure.
I simply adore your manner of writing, so witty and...well, let me call it delicious. Just can't find these suitable words that would manage to reflect my emotions.

"Happiness smells of vanilla"... vanilla mood now. smile Thanks!
