Like every town, every village have its own history, Starozhilovo has its page in it too. Even though the history can be distorted, I will try to explain why people call Starozhilovo in this way. There are two versions of origin of the name that I know.
The first version tells that Starozhilovo is firstly mentioned in cadastres of 1628-1629. It was an estate of landlords Feoktist Starozhilov and Ivan Starozhilov.
The second version is more popular (and, to my mind, is more interesting one) in Starozhilovo. It tells that Starozhilovo is the place that was entirely burnt by Mongols (I should say that Ryazan principality was one of the first places subjected Tatars' forceful onrushes). After that awful event prior inhabitants came back and rebuilt their village.
And even now people in Starozhilovo think that their village is called so just because of the patriotism and faithfulness of those people.
