I think we all sometimes need a kind of guide in our life. A person who will set an example. But what if we put him or her on a pedestal? Then our life turns into blind imitation and we stop being personalities. No doubt, such passion is fatal. It makes people go mad and may even lead to suicide! The problem has another aspect – a religious one. Idolatry is rejection of faith in true God because a man substitutes Him for someone else. So, idolatry is inadmissible. I also think that everyone should know where to stop. It concerns everything. I mean one should distinguish among admiration and idolatry.
