School drug tests
The government is going to pass the law that will oblige all schoolchildren to make drug tests twice a year. It was said that the same experiment took place some months ago in some regions and now it's time to make school drug tests regular and obligatory. It was also mentioned that the same tests should also become regular in Universities and the students that will get “positive” results will be expelled.
Actually, it seems to be a strict but reasonable act - the number of drug addicts among schoolchildren and students is evenly increasing. But still some parents (from 3% to 15%) are against these tests. “What's the reason for that, I wonder? Don't they care about their children's health?” - these questions are quite logical in this case.
Btw, what do you think about it? Should drug tests be obligatory in schools and Universities?

Well, unfortunately it's like putting the cart in front of the horse. AT this point in time, I would say no to such tests. The main reason is that the government do not have a definite strategy. Tests will give statistics and cause more discontent but will never stop drug abuse. There is a lot of info about places where drugs are made and sold. That's where the government should go to start rooting out the evil. Secondly, improving social and economic conditions, simply offering job opportunities. Thirdly, the most important and difficult - upbringing and education.

I think the idea looks like a ring without a finger. You are right, the tests will show only the statistics with annoying figures. Any measures should present a complex set of diversified methods aimed both at the root of the problem and its manifestations. Otherwise it's like taking blood tests every day and doing nothing to cure the disease.

I also heard about it in yesterday news-programme. They said there that the first time drug-addicts "taste" drugs is at the age of 11-12. Moreover, there still remain very many children who strongly believe that there are "harmless" drugs. That's why such a measure of dealing with the problem as testing all the schoolchildren is a necessity, to my mind.

I vote for this new initiative. People who don’t take drugs won’t suffer from it at all. And addicts will be revealed at the early stages of the disease and cured.
