We haven’t “digested the lesson”
Despite the horrific summer fires of 2010, people in Ryazan region keep on burning dried grass and garbage. According to the regional office of the emergency situations ministry, from the 15th till 17th of March the fire brigades made 27 drives to extinguish the burning grass and rubbish in order to prevent houses and other buildings setting on fire. The department executives remind people about the administrative and penal responsibility for violation of fire-safety rules. This also includes uncontrolled burning of grass which caused material damage and loss of life.

Hi Quanie, Thanks for stopping by. I know I had to learn those thngis the hard way. Once I realized that it is okay to take a break I started writing more. I feel I have become a better writer because of it.

Russians are crazy – the whole world knows about it. Even when our forests were still burning and it was prohibited to enter them, there were “venturers” who organized picnics in the open air. They paid absolutely no attention to two important facts:
-one single sparkle from a bonfire or a cigarette can result into a real natural disaster in dry weather;
-our own lives are in danger in such a case.

As for those who burn grass and garbage within city boundaries, it’s dangerous but we can’t avoid it completely. Large piles of litter appear near our houses after subbotniks. We have to get rid of them anyway. Maybe, people should be informed about safety rules more often and stiffer fines for their neglection should be introduced?

Special bonfire control can be organized. Small brigades will wander here and there and watch how garbage is burnt and call the police if somebody refuses to follow the rules. I think many people will agree to join the patrol if their work is properly paid. But if a fire breaks out on the territory assigned to a certain brigade, its members will be also have to answer for it…

No 'bonfires' should be organised! The litter must be transported to special places! All fires during subbotniks MUST BE FORBIDDEN!!! cry

It really irritates me a lot. Our country is like a black hole that moves chaotically and swallows up everything on its way to another hole. What people do is awful. The worst thing is that they do not understand that they are often the sole cause of such disasters. Worse that that is the fact that this is the state of our culture that some time ago turned towards self-destruction.
