Well, in my opinion money can be a good stimulus to do your work with responsibility and quality. But no public enterprise can provide you with this money that is why we finally sometimes get doctors who do not treat, teachers who do not teach and so on. I suppose nowadays our public system exists and works only thanks to such people who are fans of their job, who really get pleasure and are very interested in doing things they can do.
Well, yes, speaking about our country, here we have a stereotype "private is good and public is bad", but mainly it is because the government can't provide the public sector with enough money while entrepreneurs make everything and invest the neccessary amount of money into their business. That is why we finally get "bad" and "good" in economy.
Today we have just discussed this theme at our "finance and credit" lesson. The teacher has mentioned the fact that our public services are in such a poor condition, because the national budget is allocated by incompetent people, a lot of them have no idea about all the peculiarities of budget allocation. The amount of money that just "disapper" is great.
A sound balance must be reached. Far behind did we leave the times when communistic ideas dominated and private property was considered a deadly sin. But it’s doubtful we’ll face the time when everything will be centralized in the hands of private citizens. The fact that we have to think about where to do the tooth filling does not depend directly on the private or public sector. The situation is typical mainly of our country while in Europe ‘public’ is not so much associated with low quality of goods and services.
The same thoughts, actually. Private or Public is not the question of quality. A lot of private businesses ignore quality requirements. Since the public sector in our country is in decline and will continue to nosedive with no chance to rise upwards, private businesses will not hurry to offer top quality goods or services. A dead-end? Personally, a lot boils down to the country's moral health. Morality, or the way you treat people, is beyond vision! I have worked in the public sector all my life, I have provided top quality, now this quality is being ruined (or reconsidered = PC) by exterior factors. Maybe it is time to think of new quality standards? For example, what if I stop giving good lectures, particularly if it is not required by my students-clients any longer? Well, if I adapt my traditional quality standards to the new quality standards required or imposed by my clients? Wow, isn't this the best example of client-oriented teaching? For example, I should stop demanding my students should do homework because they are my clients and they do not see it as a necessary quality feature. Everything for you for your money even if it means no quality! (sorry, a client-desired quality who is happy with a Moscvitch 412).
Well, private enterprises are popular and offer good services, but they are expensive. I'm not against this. The problem is in public sectors. Healthcare, telecommunication, transport, education that are controlled by the government are of bad quality, but cheap. That's why it gives a chance to the private business. Entrepreneurs offer healthcare, telecommunication, transport, etc. kinds of services of high quality, but the prices are too high. Our government must change its poilicy. Such main social spheres that are mentioned above must be almost free for common people. But this leads to the global changings in Russian economy.
It is clear that nowadays private enterprises are becoming more and more popular. For example if we consider medical care- it can be both private and public. But just think, you have a toothache and you definitely want to get rid of it. So you choose whether to go to a private hospital or to a public one. So actually you choose between a good tooth stopping and a bad one, because usually it is really so. And what would you prefer? I think now it is clear why we prefer private institutions, if we can afford their services, of course.
Unfortunately, the situation with this kind of service is really miserable. Several years ago I went to the public clinic to the dentist to check my teeth. Nothing bothered me. And the dentist said my teeth were OK. But two months later I had a terrible toothache, went to the dentist that usually treats my parents and she found 5 holes in my teeth. And I understood that the dentist in the public clinic just didn't want to work. If nothing bothered me - no problems then!
