The video is very good. And the education in Russia can be as it is shown here. But not know. Probably in some years. There're 2 main problems: 1) not all teachers are intelligent, creative and humane enough; 2) those are ready to work, to create, to teach, to develop globally educated people don't get much money for their efforts.
Ok, that's all good, but where've you seen all that student-centered and inquiry-based approaches to teaching. I've been through two practices by now, and I haven't seen any of these. Though what they say in the video is probably and ideal for learning, and perhaps such things exist somewhere in the west. Here, we have only few teachers who do this. By the way, it's great idea for those group-students who would like to become teachers the next year. Why don't change something in the traditional process?
I would like to focus on two points, that is, communication and the process of learning. As for communication, I was deeply surprised to see twittwer, facebook, myspace slides as examples (or rather hints) where our communicative skills should be applied. I've been convinced that our future will be more interactive and realistic than it is today. (By the way, all the communication that "rules" the world is just a small talk between the bosses in some comfy bathhouse )
The second issue has been perfectly illustrated: Learning isn't just done at a desk. That's it! Eureka! Does it take so much time to understand we need to see, feel, touch, smell, move, break, hit, spill, etc. to get knowledge and skills???
This is a very nice video giving all the key notions of modern approaches to teaching. It focuses on such important concepts as "creativity" and "flexibility". And it is really of extreme importance for a teacher to work collaboratively and to be ready to adjust his/her lesson to the existing conditions. Creativity should also be in focus of our attention as we all know that no innovations would be possible without creativity. And we're living in the 21st century, the century of rapid technological development. Innovations are demanded by the society and science...
