Indeed. Is it so vital to know what web-sites your children visit and what they are surfing the Net for? Isn't it like willing to learn what they think about? For me, the Internet and some kinds of activities we do there are for sure our privacy. Imagine a teenage looking for a colourful postcard to send his girlfriend via the I-net. Would you like to observe it and read what he has written to her?
Another thing is when teens start growing up and it happens very often that they visit the sites containing obscene materials. And still would you like to know that your son/daughter has a habit to go there from time to time?
My thoughts have always been close to the following line: if adolescents surf in the Internet something they are afraid to ask their parents, then the link between the generations becomes weaker and more insignificant.
