I always stand in awe when looking at such magnificent and majestic buildings. Even if do not take in account the religious mission of this beauty, we must admit that the artistic and aesthetic impact upon a viewer is enormous. The picture was taken in the summer of 2011.
The thing is that until the middle of the 15th century the town was called Gorodetz Meshchersky which comes from the name of the Finno-Urgic tribe "Meshchera". The town was renamed after the son of the first Kazan Khan Ulugh Muhammed - Kasim. Gorodetz Meshchersky was handed over to him by the Moscow prince Vasily II in 1452.
I have been there. WHat a surprise to see here what I saw a few years ago! Thanks for taking me on such a wonderful tour of Kasimov. BTW, do you have any info on where the name 'Kasimov' comes from?
