Well, I know that you may have got lost in different break's styles but i decided to continue speaking about this kind of dance. And today will be the last post about the styles of break dance) Today I want to describe the last three styles - Slowmo, Boog (boogaloo) and Popping. Slowmo - (reduction from " slow motion "— a slowed down movement). This is an imitation of video in the slowed down reproduction. If you do this kind of break dance perfectly, it will look very and very effective. For example, you may slow down at any moment together with the music rhythm and repeat those movements that you've done before. But very slowly. And then you need to accelerate or even slow down slowly and finally stop. Boog (boogaloo) - actually it is difficult to describe this style, but interesting. In Russia this kind of dance is united in electrickboogie, popping. His "father" is Sam Solomon (Boogaloo Sam). Boogaloo is a smooth style. your body here shows unnatural poses and Carries out smooth transitions between them. One of the main movements is boogaloo rolls - ("перекаты"). This means movements of different parts of your body - legs (leg rolls), hips (hip rolls), chest (chest rolls).
And the last style - Popping. This kind of break may be as a separate style and at the same time it is called an "umbrella term" - a term for all funk styles.
There is a group, which calls "Chief Rocka" in Ryazan. It's got many cool breakboys and simple good people. Have you listen anything about Chief Rocka?
Sasha, thank you for the course of lectures about break dances. It's very interesting. I like your videos. More than that, I've found some more videos about break in YouTube. I like it))
Thanks for the video!!! Now I understand that I understand nothing about break... but now I also see the difference between the styles you've written about. Yes, these videos really help)))
I think it depends on your energy and plastic. Some people are like robots, others like snakes - active, mobile and energetic. It's easy for them to move fast and precise. As for me I like doing such things. I do some kind of this movements very often on the dancefloor. By the way sometimes the music is very fast, like hard techno or psychodelic trance (150-180 beats per minute). Isn't it wonderful to realize that your body's abilities are infinite!)
Thanks for the videos:) But to tell the truth, I don't like such kind of dances, though I understand that it's quite difficult to make all of these movements, to make your body move so "smoothly".
