Dog bites girl, two, in the face in Castlepark Green in Craigmillar
Dog bites girl, two, in the face in Castlepark Green in Craigmillar

A two-year-old girl has been treated for facial injuries(лицевые травмы) after a dog bit her in the face at a playpark in Edinburgh.

The toddler(ребенок начинающий ходить) was at the park with her mother in Castlepark Green in Craigmillar at about 16:00 on Thursday when she was bitten by a dog with no owner present.

Police said the animal attacked the girl without provocation.

A man who was walking in the area forced the dog off the child. Officers want to trace(проследить) the animal which ran off.

The child was taken to Craigmillar Medical Practice where she was treated for a facial cut and scratches(царапины).

The dog was described as being a brown Staffordshire Bull Terrier with black spots and a heavy build.

Police are also looking to trace the person who came forward to help the family.

Insp Roddy Hardy, of the Lothian and Borders force, said: "This was a traumatic incident for the child and we are grateful that there was a member of the public available to help them.

"The dog responsible had no owner that the mother could see, and ran off in an unknown direction.

"As such, we are keen to trace the animal as a matter of urgency to ensure no further incidents occur.

"Similarly, we are keen to trace the good Samaritan who came to the aid of the little girl to see if they have any further information to help with our inquiries(расспросы)."

Where did the dog bit the girl?
How old was the child?
What time was it?
What breed was the dog?
What hospital was the girl taken to?

I think it's terrible incident. That's why I don't like dogs. We should never down the leash our dogs.

It's awful. It's really awful. There are lots of terrible accidents with staffordshire bull terriers! All of the owners should put muzzles on their dogs.

Aaaa how I don't like people who do not watch their animals!!! This little girl has suffered because of irresponsibility of the owner of the dog! Such people should be punished! angry

IT'S TERRIBLE!!!I know many stories about such cruel animals.I think that mothers MUST go for a walk with little babies in parks where there are no dogs. And the dog owners must dress muzzles on their pets. I'm sure that dogs are good and clever animals, but I'm afraid of big dogs...

I disagree with you. Dogs are kind and rather clever animals. But the master must perfectly teach his pet and of course put a muzzle on his dog. It is difficult to give good training to a dog but it is real. I think dogs are the best animals biggrin
