The USA criticised Iran's decision to seek uranium enrichment that Tehran is planning to use in its nuclear programme. The US representative Richard Boucher claimed Iran could be using the so-t-be civic nuclear programme including building the atomic reactor as a pretext for the development of nuclear arms. The USA consider Iran to be the country sponsoring terrorism. At the same time, the IAEA representative reported the organization hasn't been surprised about Iran's expanding its nuclear programme. The Islamic leader pointed out that the uranium mine was situated in the region of Savand 200 kilometres from the city of Yasd, while production facilities were built in the centre of the country. Tehran claims its nuclear programme is aimed only at producing energy. But as confirmed by US satellite pictures Iran's objects may be used to produce nuclear weapons. President Khatami claimed nevertheless they were trying to use nuclear technologies purely for peaceful production of energy. Tehran says it needs atomic energy to meet the demand for electricity of the country with the population as high as 65 million people. But Washington supposes oil and gas could be used instead. In order to neutralize the world's concern of Iran's nuclear programmes, Iran has invited IAEA inspectors to explore its two most suspicious objects. "We are eager to accept inspectors for them to check our work and to explode the lies", Mr. Khatami said.
