How to write an essay
According to http://www.howtowriteanessay.com/index4.html

As our dear teacher has said, "it wil be a good idea if you post in blog some information on how to write an artcile".
So, here it is))))
Honestly, I have never thought that writing an essay can be very difficult. How wrong I used to be! =))) It demands hard work and a great deal of attention. While writing an essay you should follow a procedure, an algorithm.
Now I'd like to sum up the ideas given in the article I've found to show you this algorithm.

1. Before you start writing an essay, you need to decide three things. What are you writing about? Who do you imagine will be reading your essay? What do you want to tell them? A popular kind of essay is to offer your reader an opinion or argument.

2. Begin by brainstorming. Think about the main idea of your essay and then brainstorm “for” and "against" it.

3. Build an outline for your essay. It will sum up each paragraph in it.

4. Write a draft of your essay. Usually, there are 3 parts of an essay: Introductory paragraph, Essay body, where are the pros and cons and Conclusion. While writing them, use as many facts, details, or examples as possible. Remember that the job of your body essay is to share ideas with your reader. See if you can convince your reader to share your opinions. Remember that the job of your conclusion is to leave your reader with something to think about.

5. Reviewing and revising to improve your writing. Try reading your draft aloud. Ask yourself questions. Do you like the order of your essay? Do you like your introduction? Your essay body? Your conclusion? Do you have ideas that you’d like to add more to? Make at least three changes that could improve your essay. Remember that even professional writers make lots of changes!

6. Proofreading your essay. Check your work. Remember that the job of proofreading is to catch and change anything that would stop your reader from enjoying your essay.

If you wanna know more details, there is a link above. I really hope you've found smth useful. ))))))))

Honestly, I don't usually follow these rules (shame on me!). I TRY, but... You know, when I start writing something, I can hardly stop. I can't even control this process, because my thoughts are faster than my fingers and I can only think how to type everything I've got in my mind and not to loose a word. I just write what I feel. What I want to say. And the only one hint or advice that I can give you is: "follow your stream of consciousness". The first thought is always the best. But, of couse, the rules exist and we have to pay attention to them, correct our writings according to some points. That's exactly what I usually do. Correct. smile

I would just like to know: do you follow all these rules when writing your own article or not? And do you have any other pieces of advice for us, I mean some kind of hints which you use to make your articles gripping and entertaining? smile

well, I think that the info given in this post is too general to be re-posted in any of essays subsections. I'm going to find something more specific, something about persuasive, descriptive, argumentative essays, etc. Of course,it will take some time, but I hope everything will be done by next monday))))

Rina, thanks for the posting. It's timely and really necessary for the whole group. One practical suggestion and request: Please, re-post this information in our ESSAYS section. Decide which subsection it best belongs to (type of essay) and post it there. Then serach the web and find some other materials on other types of essays and post them there. Secondly, find in the web some material on how to evaluate this or that type of essay and a piece of writing. It means that you are taking on some responsibilities of a tutor. You will be doing the Writing Tutorial. That's great!
