People always named Praha as a “Golden Praha” or “Paris of 30th”. It is really a very beautiful and gorgeous city. Praha is in the middle of Europe, it is its heart.
In spite of political and religious conflicts there Praha saved its sights and didn’t change much from ancient times. Only here you can drink a pint of beer in medieval pub and only here you can see ancient medieval architecture with modern buildings. “Praha is a city of contrasts” – said Thomas Cook, a very famous traveler who published a lot of books concerning tourism and traditions of different countries.
When we hear the word “Praha” we always associate it with the word “glass”. More than a half of all tourists buy things that are made from Czech glass. The traditions of Czech glass began in 15th century but scientists said that they appeared from Celtic times. This craft was closely connected with forest and wood because people needed to stoke the stove. When a craftsman didn’t have enough wood he searched for another place of living and working.
In 18 century the craft divided into two branches: a craftsman who made a good and a craftsman who covered it in gold. Because Czech gold glass goods became very popular in Europe those times.
There is one more tradition in Czech Republic – drinking beer. Moreover Czech beer is known all over the world and every tourist won’t leave this country without tasting it. There are more than 20 breweries here and only five in Praha. It is known for ages that the best beer was an important attribute for craftsman because they always had a rest with a pint of good beer after a hard-working day.
Of course it is not all what you can see in this amazing country. A lot of ancient monuments and buildings with their own history, huge old squares and small shops where you can find everything, from souvenirs to antiquarian things are interesting for tourists.
More than one hundred of different pubs and cafes will be glad to have a chance to entertain you. Tourists say that Czech food is very delicious and the portion is huge and cheap.
