Sometimes we don’t even notice how our lives are floating away. We don’t pay attention to other people’s lives and feelings. When we take pictures, we seldom think of what is hidden in them. Since the art of photography was discovered (that happened almost two centuries ago), people have been using it for imprinting various events on paper and on their minds. But photos are not only small sheets of paper (or digital images) which we fill our albums with. Good pictures might tell a whole story, serve a perfect illustration to the dearest moments of our life; they are able to embody a person’s idea without any words. A good photograph is always a mystery, and everyone can easily interpret it to their own vision. This blog will mainly deal with professional digital pictures (that’s why I’m not planning to upload any of my own pictures for the time being as I’m not a photographer at all). The photos are chiefly taken from different websites. Now I’m thinking of whether it is necessary to put down the name of the photographer under each picture so that it won’t look like a rip-off. On the other hand, I’ve just mentioned above that all the pictures are not mine; in the major case, the authors are not famous and their names won’t give you any useful information. And I would like to know your opinion about this point. The aim of my blog is not to discuss or criticize the technique and quality of the pictures. We are going to discuss the meaning of the images, to make our own conclusions on whether this or that picture is quite suitable for the issue raised. In short, we are talking about views. I really hope that this blog will be of any interest for you. I’ll be also much pleased if you send all your suggestions and notes in private messages. Thank you.
MissJane, your thoughts have given birth to another cultural project that I talked to you about some time ago - it's photo reporting. The title can be "Our views of city views". This project will result in taking photos of city life, everything in the city, and brief comments on the plot of a photo. What do you think?
Yes, it is an awesome idea! However, I reckon it should be a separate project (which probably will take place on our lovely website))). By the way, I'm also planning to dedicate one of my blog issues to the topic of city life. Yep, it sounds really great to spotlight Ryazan and its unpretentious sights =)
Totally agree. It's a miracle, but one picture can tell as many things as some full-lenght movie or even a literature piece. By the way, it may interest you - look here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1014762/). It's a movie made with help of thousands of nature pictures that had been taken all over the world in different places on Earth. It was translated in Moscow in June at Red Square on the big screen, and also in other big cities of the world. June, 5th - World Environment Day.
WOW!!! I do think that it's a wonderful idea, Jane!)))) As you've said, a photo taken by a talanted person "might tell us a whole story" and it's always very interesting to read this tale. You know, the same picture can be seen and understood in different ways, so I quess everybody would find something to say. Looking forward to your first article))))) good luck!)))))))))))
