Lake District
Choosing a topic for the first entry was a very hard job to do. So, any suggestions are welcome (will try to write about what you are interested in)

I guess everybody is familiar with the location of Lake District.
But anyway, revising it would never harm anybody, right? So, here is the map.

I'm living in Ambleside now. And the distance to Windermere is just 4 miles. Keswick and Kendal are a bit further (30 minutes by car).
So, everything is quite close. Fells and lakes - everywhere! The best place to go hiking, hill walking, scrambling, mountaneering, canoeing and kayaking.

So, this is just a short introduction about some of my background here (I've also been to London). What are you, guys, interested in? nature, culture, language (local dialects), literature, shopping, studying?
I could also be writing about the courses I've taken here (sort of unique information, probably would be interesting to share): outdoor learning and environmental issues.
Feel free to ask about anything, to agree with my ideas, to prove me wrong or to launch a discussion. Would appreciate all sorts of comments.

hahaha, so many ideas! Thank you, Teacher! I think I'll deal with the issues one at a time. biggrin

Yes, there are quite a few tourists here. Mainly from the UK, especially from England. I've also seen Germans and Americans here. But not that many. It's actually quite easy to understand where people come forn: local accents are a complete disaster!!!

The town (village) I'm staying in is the most popular among the tourists in Cumbria. It's situated among the fells between the lakes. Fantastic landscapes!!!! Toursits prefer active recreation, in particular hill walking. It's accessible to everyone and you can choose the difficulty of the route you want to take.

I have taken a few looks at the photos and really think I would like to spend a few days in some of these places. Are there a lot of tourists, local or international? Have you done any hill walking or canoeing yet?
I also wonder what you can learn when you go out in the wilderness. What is outdoor learning, actually? What can you learn and how?
Since this is your blog, could you post of few lines on language matters? What sort of English do people speak there? Can you give a few examples?
