Today and many centuries ago London is and was the most important city for world’s art, politics and economics. This is the capital of British empire - the biggest in the world. London’s City was a commercial centre of a city in Roman’s times. Now it is the first from three main financial centers of modern world.
The most popular London’s sights are: Tower of London, Big Ben, Tower’s bridge and so on. The history of London is so rich that every person in the world wants to visit it once.
English language is the main thing that exports. This kind of language became an international language and that is why British people are so proud of it.
London’s art life attracts not only designers and artist. Usual tourist visits modern galleries, exhibitions, theaters, museums. Londoners honor their traditions and try to save architecture. For example the most famous theater of London is the theater “Globus” of William Shakespeare. This theater was rebuilt by American theatrical director. In 1997 the first performance took place there.
I can mention another one famous museum In London – Victoria and Albert’s museum. It is a kind of our Hermitage in Saint Petersburg where all kinds of art, sculptures, glass and clothes are concentrated. In 1996 there were opened two main galleries: The Silver gallery and the Rafael’s gallery.
London is a good place for having a rest. A lot of parks with unbelievable atmosphere, ponds with swans and ducks, fresh air and all of these things are in the center of the city. Can you imagine it in Ryazan, for example? In Kensington's Gardens you can find a monument to Peter Pen, a famous character of children's fairy tale.
And of course when we speak about London and literature we can’t forget Charles Dickens who lived in London. Any tourist can find his museum and see that famous piece of furniture - table that helped a write to create his masterpieces.
I’m sure that London keeps a lot of secrets and people come here to see English ghosts. That is why travel agencies offer such a tour as a “London ghost tour”.
