Starozhilovo is located in Ryazanskaya oblast, European Region of Russia. It's the centre of Starozhilovo district. The population is about 5300 people. For the first time Starozilovo was mentioned in 1628. There are a lot of places to visit in Starozilovo.
For example, a Stud Farm which was built by baron von Dervis and was designed by Shehtel (a famous architect). There are a lot of horses in the stud farm that won a lot of prizes in different competitions. People from all over the world come here to buy horses. General Zhukov visited that Stud Farm when the Second World War started. In Starozhilovo you can also visit the church of St. Peter and St. Pavel. It was a personal church of baron von Dervis. The church is very beautiful and amazes everybody.
Also, you can see a lot of old and fabulous buildings that belonged to the baron. But nowadays they house a library, a music school, an art school. There are a lot of hills and forests in Starozhilovo. The Istya river flows through the hills. Unfortunately, the river is very polluted now. There is a lot of rubbish in this river. Anyway, you can find some breathtaking views! There are a lot of things to do in Starozhilovo. You can play football, volleyball, basketball, ride a bicycle, walk, fish in summer. In winter you can ski, skate, play ice-hockey, make a snowman and also fish. So why not to come to Starozhilovo and visit all these places of interest?
My grandparents live in Starozhilovo. Unfortunately, I seldom visit them but I agree that this town is really fascinating and full of interesting places.
By the way, my Grandpa used to work at Stud Farm. When I was a little child, he often took me there and showed how horses of different ages and breeds are kept. I came close to animals and gave them bread with salt. It’s hard to explain in words what a person feels when a horse touches his or her arm with its big, warm and soft lips… It tickles you a bit… It’s unforgettable!
Starozhilovo is also an ideal place to enjoy the beauty of nature and its gifts. I like to pick wild strawberries there. I just find a big pail or two, take some food and a repellent and go to the fields alone. I can spend the whole day outdoors picking berries. It sets my mind at rest.
I try to visit my grandparents during the holidays but I often spend my holidays there In my opinion some things could be done in Starozhilovo. First of all, Starozhilovo needs good advertisment and people from many cities would know about that place. Also, the authorities of the Stud Farm should hire some guides and during excursions people coud ride a horse if they want. And it would be great if the local government built some souvenir shops
And do you personally prefer to spend your summer/winter vacations in Starozhilovo? By the way, what (in your opinion) could be done in this rather small town to attract more guests from other regions or even abroad?
