Let me first speak about psychology and then come to the Bible. And in particular, let’s speak about forbidden activities. The human mind works, or, let’s say, is designed in such a way that it doesn’t perceive and therefore doesn't understand negative particles. If somebody says to you, for example, ‘Do not think about a polar bear’, what will your immediate reaction be? What will you be thinking about? Let me guess: a polar bear! That’s the way our mind and brains work. Consider little children investigating the world around them. "Do not touch the pan, it is hot!” They will touch it. It will be painful. But they will shape the concept of "hot”. Now let’s pass to the Bible. Adam and Eve were like those little children when they ate from that tree. They investigated the world around them. As for me, I think – no, I am absolutely sure – that God left that tree in the Garden of Eden on purpose. He was testing their inquisitive mind. When they ate that apple, they were ready to descend to earth. Banishing from Heaven is not a punishment; it is a chance for them. That is not the Fall in its true sense. On the contrary, it is a jump to a new life. Moreover, I am firmly convinced that it was a part of God’s plan for Eve to take the fruit. God didn’t create anything unnecessary. If he created that tree, it was done definitely intentionally. Another detail that adds to the understanding of the biblical myth is that God was neither defeated nor frustrated in the Garden of Eden. And since he was not surprised, he had expected that. Or even, and that seems more convincing, he wanted them to eat the forbidden fruit. God wanted to send Eve and Adam to Earth.
Your opinion is interesting but not convincing. For what reason was God born on Earth? Why must He save the human being if He Himself chose for them this way? Was He wrong and mistaken? If it is so, we can't call Him God. I think you forgot about the human will. Of course, God knows everything, but man himself made a choice. God doesn't want to interfere with man's will. A new life was started, but without God. This life is like a device that works without a battery.
This is an entirely wrong understanding of the Biblical myth. You pick out the desired facts and play with them at your convinience. I feel that all of your interpretations never go beyond regarding the Bible as fiction. That's the reason for misunderstanding. It's not about getting a chance or being fired. It's more about destroying the thing that worked and gave life. The association with a ploar bear is misleading! You need a comparison. OK! Go ahead! Pluck up your will and courage! Rob a bank! Kill a person! Be a vandal! Will that be your personal fall or a chance to rise, to explore, to learn, to choose, to create, to investigate? If you really want to interpret the literary message, then think about the images, first of all. 'The Garden of Eden" - protected life. 'The Tree of Knowledge" - learning to be evil and investigating the degrees of evil. 'Serpent' - ignorance and no desire to think and analyse and investigate. 'Apple' - a wrong decision. 'Eating the apple' - killing the human chance to create, to design, to explore. 'Being expelled' - unablity of man to return to innocence without repentance and eucharist.
"it is a jump to a new life" That's it! I always wondered why no one regards this story as an opportunity to start something new. Bringing comparisons here again, I would say this is a bit like when you're fired. We all know it's sad and we regret it, but on the other hand (and political correct phrases don't allow us to forget about it), we're on the road to new experience. Adam and Eve were sent to Earth to explore. To identify. To get knowledge. The status of God's will remains a question though (I mean was that his intention? or his reaction?). "God didn’t create anything unnecessary." I reckon the term 'unnecessary' is a human invention, but in the sense of 'being of usage' this word fits the context of the story very well. The tree is a "will"-meter (=the gauge to measure people's will and tenacity) which was used and took effect.
