What is Tiredness or Fatigue?
Experts say that 10% of us at any one time are suffering from persistent tiredness. Persistent tiredness is more common among women than men. General Practitioners say they regularly see patients who come in complaining of severe tiredness.
As a consequence of our busy and stressful modern lifestyles, most of us experience tiredness. On most occasions, fatigue can be relieved after a good night's sleep. However, this is not the case for everybody. Some people find that tiredness becomes a chronic problem which undermines their day-to-day functioning - i.e. it significantly affects their quality of life.
Tiredness can be caused by several different factors. Here is a list of some common causes of tiredness: a current illness, bereavement, work problems, jet lag, depression, boredom, lack of sleep and a vitamin or mineral deficiency.
How Do People Define Tiredness?
Patients who experience tiredness say:
* They lack energy
* They feel discomfort
* They feel unwell
* They feel sleepy
* They have lost motivation
* Their concentration is poor
* They find it hard to make decisions
* They find daily tasks difficult to carry out
* They feel depressed

Do you often feel tired? If yes, what may be a possible reason?
Do you think that our studying in the afternoon makes us fatigued?

Well, I have run through your postings and one thing struck me! Are you all dying? Have you decided to leave the face of the earth? Why are you whimpering like little kids who were refused a reward? Why are you talking of being tired or fatigued as if you all were flabby, paralysed aging bodies that have no energy or wish to live and make this life a cosmos of your plans, ambitions, hobbies, knowledge, friends, parties, outings, visits to other places? Anything! I don't believe you get just tired! I would insist that you get bored, demotivated, ignored and irritated! If you have an aim in life (for an hour, a day, a week, a month, a year) you will never get emtionally tired! This is LIFE, a domain for human beings in which they must move, eat, build, think, create, speak, laugh, help, work, learn, watch, use the Internet, buy things and ... welcome a moment of peace, comfort and physical laziness just to be able to spring up again and continue to explore life options! CHEER UP, silly TIREDers!

I feel tired almost every evening. From time to time I feel terribly tired. The possible reason for it is my day regime. You know, to study in the afternoon is quite nice. But the problem is that almost everyday we must do some other duties in the morning. So it happens that we're busy during the whole day. Yes, those who study in the morning also stay in the Uni in the afternoon, but they come back home much earlier in the evening. That's the reason. Yes, we study in the afternoon, but many of us wake up early in the morning. So... You know, our schedule is a great woe. smile

Probably you are right because it takes a lot of effort to get used to such a schedule.
But every thing has its pluses and minuses, isn't it so?)

Of course, it is))

Sometimes I think that it's my natural state - to feel tired all the time! Because when I come home in the evening I think, "Well, I guess tomorrow I'll not have much to do so it'll be a good day for resting". BUT certainly next day I have to do this and that...I agree with you that our studies take away lots of time but of course there are also many other things to do:) Well...it's life:)

biggrin :D biggrin I've just remembered one of our conversations on our way home.
-I'm so tired...
-Yeah, I'm very tired.
-No, I'm very-very-very tired.
-Yeah, I'm exhausted.
-I want nothing but to sleep.
-I want nothing but to eat and sleep.
Something like that. So stupid!!!! biggrin

It's your choice - to spend much time on it or not. As far as me - I try to achieve as much as possible making as fewer efforts as possible...
That's why studies do not take me much time.

No, it's not. There's no doubt in it. But unfortunately they preoccupy a lot of time. Do you disagree with me?

I see no reasons why we should put all our forces into studies.. It's not the only thing in life, is it?

Routine does not mean studies, Max
I can't figure out why you want to show us that we hung up on the studies. There are LOTS of different things that occupy my life and that may make me tired.

yeah, but all of you do nothing but study days after days, and that makes the only sense in your life.
or you would deny that studies do not take more time than any other things??? don't mock at me, don't play with me, don't stretch the truth.
everyday i see tiredness on your faces - and the only reason is stduies. you kill yourself, but i can't understand for the sake of what? it's likee the addiction, or smth.

hohohoho! you are an all-seeing god, Max
please, don't think all that you see and understand is true for other people.
and what occupies most of YOUR time? watching movies, na?

living student's life, Jane, that i will always reconcile as the best time in my life, but not the most tiring and worst.

living student's life? it very a very unshaped and looming explanation, to my mind..
ok, many men, many minds.

Jane, I may be mistaken, but I think that the reasons for that routine are also in our studies. They demand not so little time and we just can't easily find that "free" time to go out,watch a movie, etc. May it be so?

I can admit that now I'm experiencing one of those periods which can be easily called exhausting. Well, sometimes I feel so crapped out as if all the blood and energy have run out of my body. Presumably, this is all because of too much work, but I would rather name some other reason. I have no doubt that the main cause of my chronic tiredness is routine. I can sleep less, I can eat once a day, I can spend the whole day working hard, but all I need is diversity and changes. If every day is the same as the previous one, it wears me down. Well, this could be reckoned among emotional reasons, but very often we have to comply with rules and obligations of our life, and that's why we can't change everything we want. So routine, schedules and timetables usually knock me up, but I haven't managed to find a way out so far.

Thank you very much!
I was quite surprised actually that you haven't felt tired for a long time. I'm still rather unsure of it. Maybe, you've forgotten it because now you're in high spirits? No? Frankly speaking, when writing the article I thought that the theme of fatigue would be very familiar to everyone.
But you gave me an interesting idea of interconnection of tiredness and depression. I suppose my next article will be devoted to this problem.

Great article! It sounds strange but I haven't felt tired for a long time. Rather, I have felt depressed a lot of times. I have discovered one thing - one tends to be often tired when he or she lacks emotional or professional support from his/her friends, relatives, co-workers. For example, I personally can get tired when at work if what I do seems to be rejected, ignored or misinterpreted. It's also important to learn to deal with tiredness and its causes. I feel that I know how to deal with it - one positive strategy is to learn to give others advice. When you advise, you seem to be more confident and your depression and self-doubt flee away. It may be because I am a teacher.
