“Ancient people couldn’t protect themselves against nature, so they believed in Gods”. I remember this sentence from my middle school, from the lessons of history delivered by our head teacher. Though it’s said about ancient people the very idea can be applied to the modern reality as well. People can’t protect themselves, don’t feel secure, can’t explain everything happening to them, so they believe in Supernatural. Superpowers are the easiest way to explain things. You may say, ‘Why are you so sure people tend to be interested in the Supernatural and want to have superpowers?’ I am sure. And I can support my point of view. Which books are extremely popular nowadays? Of course, there are many, but among them there definitely will be “Harry Potter” and “Twilight”. name a very popular American TV-serials. That’s "Supernatural" or “Smalville”.
Do you know what it is about? A superhero from Krypton saving our planet! A handsome boy with superpowers dealing with bad guys. resembles a god, doesn’t he? So, what’s the point? My idea is: people WANT to believe in Supernatural, considering outer forces to be some powerful protection from life-threatening or just unpleasant situations happening to them. It is in our nature. And we shouldn’t neglect it. Why should we?!
Well, I like watching Supernatural, but I don't do it because I really believe in all these monsters. It's just a funny series. But probably some interest makes people shoot such kind of movies:)
