A new species of monkey has been identified in Africa, the second one in 28 years, say scientists.

The primate was discovered in the Democratic Republic of Congo where it is known locally as a "lesula".

The species is separated from its nearest cousins by two rivers: the Congo and the Lomami.

Conservationists say the discovery highlights the need to protect the diverse wildlife of the Congo basin.

James Bond anniversary event 007 Days of Bond tours UK

James Bond film stars are to appear at UK locations used in the 007 movies to mark the 50th anniversary of the franchise.

Former Bond girls, including Eunice Gayson, Britt Ekland and Shirley Eaton, and villain Richard Kiel are also among the cast for the 007 Days of Bond tour.

Snake abandoned in Hook car park found by children

Two children have found a rare snake abandoned in a Hampshire car park.

The RSPCA is hoping to trace its owner after the serpent was discovered dumped inside a smashed up vivarium in Bowling Green Drive, Hook, on Tuesday.

The Irian Jaya carpet python is native to Papua New Guinea and northern Australia. Most are tame and easy to handle and rarely bite.
