High winds and record temperatures have fanned fires in south-east Australia, as the prime minister warned of a "very dangerous day".

Toyota has given a taste of self-drive car safety technology ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next week.

The Scottish government is to invest an extra £3.9m in cycling infrastructure over the next two years.

The largest part of the investment - £3m - will go towards the creation of the National Cycle Network route between Oban and Inverness.

An 1839 Turner masterpiece of a view of Rome has sold for £29.7m in London, breaking the artist's auction record.
